Sundance Institute

Maestra worked with the Sundance Institute to dissect and analyze their previous code of conduct, taking heed of their existing values and language used. Through our discovery process, we identified deficiencies, suggested entirely new language and worked with Sundance senior leadership to reach consensus on the updated Community Agreement. In doing the work, we took special note of how BIPOC Sundance community members have felt spotlighted during conduct incidents in the past. As we crafted the triage protocol, meant to be a supplemental toolkit to the Community Agreement and intended to be used as a resource when addressing conduct violations, we kept BIPOC individuals at the center.  Out of this partnership came an innovative code of conduct and an escalation and communications process rooted in creating safe spaces for every Sundance community member.
